There is also a custom of wearing your tallit (prayer shawl) during this evening service. This service will start promptly at 6pm. Beth Chaim Reform Congregation

Reform
Rabbi Michelle Pearlman
5:00 p.m., approximately 1 hour

We welcome members of Beth Chaim and guests to our community, your Jewish neighborhood in Chester County. In this time of pandemic, most of our offerings will be hosted on zoom. We are using this as an opportunity to think more creatively about our services. Because we cannot meet in our congregational home, we will all work together to extend the sanctuary, and make a mikdash me-aht in our own homes. Please register in advance for all of these service opportunities because we are planning them as interactive experiences. After you register, we will send information on what you need in order to participate. Don’t worry, most items that we are incorporating into our holiday experience can be found in your own home or easily obtained. You do not need a High Holiday prayerbook as all of the prayers will be featured as part of our holiday zoom presentation as Visual Tefilah slides. Yizkor followed by Neila and Havdallah - Our community stands united with those who are grieving. Join us as we each light a candle to remember those in our lives who have passed away but left us their gifts of love. Our service includes psalms and prayers as well as a special Yizkor presentation honoring the loved ones of members of our community. Yizkor is followed by Neila which is the service that marks the symbolic closing of the Gates of Repentance. Give yourself the gift of following the arc of these High Holidays to the end with this meaningful closing service which will feature a closing blast of the shofar, followed by Havdallah and our own individual break the fast experiences. These services are geared towards adults although it is powerful for children to be present at the end of Neila for Havdallah. This year we will all make the blessings together as we create a mikdash me-aht, a sanctuary in our own homes.

Free to all; donations appreciated and/or requested.
