Another Happy Camper – Frequently Asked Questions

What is “Another Happy Camper?”

Through “Another Happy Camper,” residents of Greater Philadelphia who refer a new camper to the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s “One Happy Camper” program receive $200 towards their own child’s experience at Jewish camp. This $200 incentive grant is designed to inspire more Philadelphia-area kids to attend Jewish summer camp through peer-to-peer engagement and recruitment.

Why are you giving away “Another Happy Camper” vouchers?

We know that the greatest influence on parents to send their children to summer camp are positive referrals from families and friends. Now that you know the value of Jewish overnight camp, we are giving you an opportunity to pay it forward…and you get a bonus to help with this coming summer’s tuition.

How do I get started?

After you fill out the initial form asking for you to “register for Another Happy Camper,” Sharon Bromberg, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s “Camp Concierge” will email or call you. All you need to do is give her the contact information of the family you’d like to refer and she will take it from there. She will contact the family (or families) that you think might want to send a child to a Jewish summer camp and verify whether they qualify for a One Happy Camper grant. If they do, then YOU will likely qualify for “Another Happy Camper” grant!

Who should I refer?

You should refer a family who has children in grades K-12 that do NOT attend a Jewish Day School, that has never sent a child to Jewish overnight camp and lives in one of Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s five counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia.

When should I refer my friends to you?

We recommend referring potential campers to us as soon as possible — and definitely before your lead applies for their One Happy Camper grant — to ensure that your referral is a key factor in their decision to go to Jewish summer camp.

How do I ensure that I am eligible to receive the “Another Happy Camper” voucher for this year?

In order to be eligible to receive the “Another Happy Camper” voucher, the potential camper that you refer must be eligible for and receive a One Happy Camper grant for the 2018 camping season from the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.

In order to receive a One Happy Camper grant, the potential new camper must:

  • NOT attend Jewish Day School
  • Attend camp for a minimum of 12 days.
  • Be registered for an approved overnight camp from the Foundation for Jewish Camp website
  • Attend a Jewish overnight camp for the first time
  • Be entering grades K – 12
When will I receive the voucher?

Once the new camper’s eligibility for the One Happy Camper has been approved, you will receive a letter confirming that a $200 check has been sent directly to your child’s camp.

Note: There are a limited number of vouchers available this year. Vouchers will be distributed on a “first come, first served” basis, according to when the lead is awarded a One Happy Camper grant.

What else do I need to do?

Once you have passed along your information to our Camp Concierge you don’t have to do anything more. You do not need to convince the new child to go to camp, but you are free to help!

What if my child isn’t attending camp this year, or I would like to pass my voucher on to someone else?

If eligible, you can designate the $200 voucher to benefit anyone you know who is attending a Foundation for Jewish Camp-approved overnight camp; it does not have to go to a relative.
