Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia has an opening for a Diller Teen Fellowship Program Coordinator.  This position reports to the Project Manager, Jewish Life and Learning.

Primary responsibilities of this position include

  • Develop and lead scheduled workshops and retreats throughout the year in accordance with the Diller mission, vision, and goals
  • Provide mentorship and guidance for up to 20 program participants, two Junior Counselors, and one Program Intern
  • Manage the marketing, recruitment, interviewing and selection process for 20 participants for each upcoming program year
  • Design, co-lead, and supervise, in partnership with Israeli coordinator, seminars in Philadelphia and in Israel
  • Provide ongoing curriculum development and program evaluation in coordination with Diller program guidance and the Jewish Federation’s Program Operations and Evaluations team
  • Carefully manage the program budget
  • Promote the program locally in collaboration with other local organizations
  • Engage parents of participating teens and local program alumni. Help them understand and contribute to the experience of the current cohort
  • Plan and manage all logistics related to workshops and retreats, service learning projects, Israel education and travel planning

Successful candidates for this position will possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities

  • Proven success developing personal connections with and mentoring Jewish teens
  • Understanding of and appreciation for Israeli culture, preferably including extended time in Israel and at least a beginning-intermediate understanding of Israeli history, politics, and geography
  • Basic knowledge of Hebrew
  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia Jewish community and prior experience working collaboratively with community professionals
  • Strong facilitation, education, organization, and communication skills required to effectively interact with, lead, and inspire a diverse body of teens, parents, community leaders and staff, as well as to collaborate effectively with partner agency staff
  • Administrative and management skills including budgeting, scheduling, and communications
  • Ability to collaborate in an international partnership and to work with and contribute to an international peer network of Diller Teen Fellow Coordinators
  • Availability evenings and weekends, in addition to travel to Israel for three weeks during the summer and additional travel during the year to a variety of conferences and trainings
  • BA in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Jewish Studies, or related field; MA preferred
  • Experience developing and leading programming addressing Jewish identity development, youth leadership development, community service, and Israel education
  • Experience in experiential education, group facilitation, program development and/or management

  • July 6-26, 2020 — Israel Summer Seminar
