Monday, March 30 10:30 a.m. BARBARA STREISAND: A POOR LITTLE GIRL FROM BROOKLYN w/ NORMAN RUBIN.
As a professional engineer, Norman Rubin specialized in Electronic Circuit and System design and worked in many different areas including radar, sonar, secure voice data transmission (encryption), biomedical electronics, electrostatics, sound reproduction, and most recently, applying technology to help those with special needs. One major accomplishment was the design of a unique computer workstation for individuals with autism and attention issues. Norman worked on several programs: Advancement of LSI (Large Scale Integration) that paved the way for devices like our cellphones and is used in virtually anything today that contains electronic circuits. He was the program manager and lead designer for the team that designed the Voice Communication System for the NASA Space Shuttle.
