Listen to the Music in the TJMuseum Record Collection
There are more than 1,000 phonograph records, CDs and tapes in the collection of the Temple Judea Museum. They cover every genre you can imagine from “My Fair Lady” in Yiddish to Golda Meir speaking about the founding of the State of Israel, to Klezmer classics, Israeli music, Broadway, music by women, humor and much, much more! Come and hear some of these treasures each month as we listen to them Thursday mornings at 11:30am and hear an expert guest speaker offer insights. All Thursday mornings 11:30 – 12:30. On Thursday morning, December 12th at 11:30am, Fran Schwartz will share information and her insight with selections of Jewish composers and soloists from the classical orchestral repertoire. Some of the records to be played and the musicians highlighted will be Artur Rubinstein performing Chopin, Itzah Perlman with music of two Jewish born composers Henryk Wieniawski and Fritz Kreisler, Ernest Bloch’s Nigun from “Baal Shem” performed by Pinchas Zukerman, Gershwin playing Gershwin on original piano rolls, Oscar Levant with Gershwin’s Three Preludes for piano…..and more.
