The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia strongly condemns hate speech in our community and throughout the world. When anti-Semitic hate speech was expressed by Temple University Professor Marc Lamont Hill, we immediately took action with national and local partners. We have and will continue to condemn comments that reject the state of Israel and the Jewish connection to our homeland.

The path to peace in the Middle East is heavily debated within our Jewish communities. J.J. Goldberg, editor-at-large of the Forward, and Jonathan Tobin, editor in chief of the Jewish News Service and a contributing writer for National Review, two Jewish-American thought leaders, will debate arguments from the Left and the Right about this complex issue and demonstrate how we can come together to determinedly but civilly articulate one’s opinion, even if we disagree. Join us for an engaging and informative evening full of lively discussion.

Afterwards, Tobin and Goldberg’s conversation will be a springboard for a series of workshops throughout Greater Philadelphia on maintaining civil dialogue about Israel. Join us and other participants throughout the year in developing the skills necessary for effective, civil communication about controversial themes.
