Delaware County, located south and west of Philadelphia, is home to a diverse, vibrant, and engaging Jewish community, which offers many opportunities for connection and involvement.

ABOUT DELAWARE COUNTY KEHILLAH

Though small in size, Delaware County features a robust coalition of Jewish professional and volunteer leadership who come together to collaborate and share ideas, challenges, and successes.

Our four synagogues are affiliated with the Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist movements. Also part of the Jewish fabric of Delaware County is a senior living community, two Chabad centers, and a unique community-based Jewish learning project for adults and teens, in collaboration with two of the kehillah’s synagogues and the Reconstructionist movement. All of these resources help serve the estimated 29,400 Jewish individuals of all ages who reside in the community.

Famous for its exquisite parks, splendid gardens, and world-renowned arboretums, Delaware County is also rich in Colonial historic sites, and many high caliber arts and culture institutions – all of which are potential settings and/or partners for Jewish community programs and events. Additionally, Delaware County is a strong center for liberal arts colleges – both Swarthmore and Haverford College are based here, and throughout the year they offer many wonderful programs open to the entire community.
