Make this year especially sweet and delicious by joining us for a 1-hour live virtual cooking class with 5-time James Beard Foundation Award-Winning Chef Michael Solomonov and New York Times Best-Selling cookbook author Adeena Sussman. During this interactive experience to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, you will receive recipes in advance and have the opportunity to ask questions to be answered live.

Register for a Schmooze Room & Virtual Cooking Class

Before the virtual cooking class begins at 8:00 p.m., join your community and bring a beverage of your choice for a New Year’s toast (l’chaim) at one of our virtual Schmooze Rooms at 7:30 p.m. Click to register from the following options to get the link to join the Schmooze Room AND virtual cooking class.

Event faq and troubleshooting

Q. What virtual platforms will this event use?

A. The Schmooze Room at 7:30 p.m. will be over Zoom. The virtual cooking class at 8:00 p.m. will be over Vimeo.

Q. If I register for the Schmooze Room, do I also have to register for the virtual cooking class?

A. No, you do not need to register twice. If you register for a Schmooze Room, you will get a link to join both the Schmooze Room AND the virtual cooking class.

Q. If I register for only the virtual cooking class, do I also have to register for the Schmooze Room?

A. Yes. If you register only for the virtual cooking class, you will not receive another link to join the Schmooze Room. If you register for the Schmooze Room, you will receive a link for both the Schmooze Room and the virtual cooking class.

Q. I already registered for the virtual cooking class only, but now I would like to attend a Schmooze Room. Is it okay for me to register again?

A. Yes! If you already registered for the virtual cooking class and decide later on that you would like to attend a community Schmooze Room, you can always register again.

Q.  Do I need to download software or an app to view the livestream of the virtual cooking class?

A. No! A viewer just needs to be able to connect to the internet. The viewer will view the livestream at a website link provided to them, so as long as they can access the internet for connecting that link, they will be able to view the livestream.

Q.  Is there a preferred browser to view the livestream of the virtual cooking class?

A.  For best viewing, use one of the following browsers (latest version of the browser): Chrome (recommended), Firefox, Safari.

Q.  What if I can’t see the livestream of the virtual cooking class playing at the designated time?

If a viewer connects the link before the designated livestream time, they might need to refresh their browser at the time to see the livestream in progress or to have the “Watch Live” option to start the livestream.

Q.  What if Vimeo is saying I don’t have access to watch the program of the virtual cooking class?

Please check that the link is not trying to open in the Vimeo app. If they have the Vimeo app, their device might default to trying to open the link using the app. The link is only viewable in a web browser so they should copy and paste it into Google Chrome.

Q.  I can’t hear the livestream of the virtual cooking class. How do I enable the audio?

If a viewer is not hearing the livestream audio, they may need to tap “Tap to Unmute” at the top of the viewing screen. If prompted with that, they must tap that in order to hear the audio. If that is not the issue, they should ensure their  device volume is turned up.

Q.  How do I get the best quality livestream of the virtual cooking class?

For the best quality, click the gear wheel on the bottom right of the video player and set it to Auto. This will ensure the Vimeo player is adjusting for the best quality based on the viewer’s Internet, processing speed and player size.

Q.  Can I watch the livestream of the virtual cooking class full screen or only in the Vimeo Showcase view?

Viewers can choose to go full screen with the livestream by clicking the full screen icon box at the bottom right of the screen. (visible when you hover your mouse over the player and the player controls appear). They would then click ESC to exit out of full screen.
