Mor Gabbai, z”l – September 25, 1993 – October 7, 2023
Mor grew up in a village near the Israeli city of Netivot, where she attended a local B’nei Akiva high school. In 2009, she enrolled in the recently established Unistream Entrepreneurship Center in Netivot, and was among the Center’s first graduating cohort of teens. Mor was extremely creative and entrepreneurial, and in addition to establishing her own event planning business, she composed many poems and songs. She dreamed of having her songs recorded and her works of poetry published one day.
On Saturday, October 7th, Mor and her work colleagues were at a private gathering at the Zikim Beach, located only a few kilometers north of the Gaza Strip, where they had spent the night. That morning, they heard the sounds of gunfire and other loud noises, and Mor decided to go to be with her mother, who lives alone in Netivot. On the way to her mother’s home, she stopped at a gas station, where she was brutally attacked by Hamas terrorists, who shot her twice in the neck, killing her.
In Mor’s memory, Unistream is seeking funds to publish some of her poems and song lyrics, fulfilling her dream, and honoring her life.
