Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia has an opening for a housekeeper, a crucial member of our facilities team.  

Position Purpose

Housekeeping will carry out assigned duties in a safe, efficient and friendly manner. In addition to the duties described herein, the Housekeeper will perform other duties as requested by the Facilities Manager and/or the Executive team. The Housekeeper must provide exceptional customer service while assessing and servicing the property.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial work in common areas and complete exterior grounds maintenance, to include sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning windows, and any other tasks as deemed required or necessary.
  • Must be knowledgeable of pertinent laws and applicable regulations including, but not limited to EPA and OSHA regulations governing proper storage and management of hazardous materials, including solvents, flammables and caustics
  • Must be knowledgeable of pertinent laws and applicable regulations including, but not limited to EPA and OSHA regulations governing proper storage and management of hazardous materials, including solvents, flammables and caustics
  • Must adhere to MSDS guidelines for chemical usage.  
  • Remove trash from the office areas and community perimeter on a regular basis.
  • Must report any maintenance concerns for repairs to the Facilities department in a timely manner.
  • Respond to service requests from staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure effective, timely and professional interactions with colleagues and guests.
  • Must be knowledgeable of inventory levels of supplies and inform the Facilities Manager of shortages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required experience

  • Knowledge, understanding and application of OSHA codes, laws, and regulations.
  • Previous housekeeping experience a plus, preferably in a multi-level building.
  • Must be able to organize daily tasks, and work according to a check-list.
  • Previous experience using chemicals and cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a background screening.
  • Must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination, unless granted a medical or religious exemption.
