The United Nations’ decision to convene a meeting on the Gaza–Israel conflict during Rosh Hashanah, one of the holiest days on the Jewish calendar, is deeply concerning. The timing of this meeting excludes Jewish leaders and representatives from participating in critical discussions, effectively silencing voices that deserve to be heard.
Since its establishment, the United Nations has passed over 160 resolutions condemning Israel, while too often ignoring the threats and violence faced by its citizens, including the devastating plight of the hostages still held captive by terrorists. This pattern undermines the safety and legitimacy of the Israeli people on the world stage. We urge the United Nations not to embolden terrorism, but instead to call for the immediate release of the hostages, for Hamas to lay down its weapons, and for the people of Gaza to be freed from its grip.
As an organization committed to ensuring the safety and vitality of Jewish communities, we believe that the pursuit of peace and justice must include all voices — especially those most directly affected. Holding such a meeting on a sacred holiday sends a painful message to Jews worldwide that their faith and presence are not valued.
We call on the United Nations to ensure that Jewish voices are fully represented. The pursuit of peace and justice must include all voices — especially those most affected.
