Icons Richard J. Green and Alan Horwitz for Their Industry and Philanthropic Impact
Philadelphia, PA, November 18, 2024 — The Jewish Federation Real Estate (JFRE) hosted its 12th annual Legends and Leaders event on Friday, November 15, at the historic Crystal Tea Room. The gathering attracted 500 real estate professionals from Greater Philadelphia for a morning of networking and insights from industry leaders.
“Whether you are here as a member of the Jewish community or as an ally standing alongside us during these challenging times, your presence and commitment mean more than words can express,” welcomed Dan Berger, JFRE Chair and CEO of Berger Communities. “Together, we are a testament to resilience, unity and enduring strength.”
This year, the event celebrated the outstanding contributions of Richard J. Green and Alan Horwitz, who were inducted into the JFRE Hall of Fame for their exceptional impact on the Philadelphia community through their leadership, philanthropy, and Service.
Richard J. Green, Executive Chairman of the Board and Owner of Firstrust Bank, is deeply involved in the community, serving on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and the Executive Board of Federation Housing, Inc., which supports elderly, low-income residents. He is also a Trustee for the Green Family Foundation and Chairman of the Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment Roundtable, appointed by Mayor Cherelle Parker.

His generosity has left a lasting mark on the city, contributing to constructing the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza and the Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center, a new facility for Philadelphia Youth Basketball. The morning’s program also featured networking opportunities, breakfast, and dynamic breakout discussions led by prominent figures in the real estate sector.
