The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia welcomes the agreement approved by Israel’s cabinet for a ceasefire on its northern front. Israel has long endured the threat of Iran’s proxy Hezbollah, a terrorist organization which has amassed heavy weapons along its northern border, and since Oct. 8, 2023 has fired regular missiles, drones and rockets, forcing over 60,000 people to evacuate their homes.

Throughout this harrowing period, the Jewish Federation and our Philadelphia community have been there to support Israel, and we will continue to support them in their needs going forward. We are hopeful that this agreement will help pave the way for a more stable and peaceful future, allow Israel’s citizens to return to their homes, and end the unacceptable rain of rockets and missiles that have terrorized Israel’s civilians these past 14 months.

About the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia

Through grants, emergency funding, restricted gifts, endowments, and our partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools, we annually invest in caring for those in need, combating antisemitism and global crisis, and securing a vibrant Jewish future.
