Philadelphia Launch: ‘Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew’

In “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew,” co-authors Noa Tishby and Emmanuel Acho tackle the tough questions on antisemitism. They explore sensitive topics like Jewish stereotypes, power dynamics, and the nature of Judaism, providing clear insights into the roots of Jewish hatred in America. With Tishby’s Israeli-American background and Acho’s Nigerian American heritage, they offer diverse perspectives that make complex ideas accessible. Their dialogue aims to educate and empower readers to recognize and address bigotry, emphasizing that hatred against one is a threat to all. The book is set to release on April 30, 2024.

Noa Tishby is a New York Times best-selling author and Israel’s former Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism and Delegitimization.

A Tel Aviv native, Tishby served in the Israeli army before landing a starring role on the nation’s highest-rated prime time drama. After becoming a household name in Israel and appearing in numerous TV shows, films, theater productions and fashion campaigns, Tishby moved to Los Angeles, where she sold the Israeli TV show “In Treatment” to HBO, which made history as the first Israeli TV show to become an American series. “In Treatment” was nominated for fourteen Emmy and Golden Globes and won a Peabody Award.

Tishby has been a leader in pro-Israel activism for over a decade, co-founding and initiating several organizations and projects, including Act for Israel, Reality Israel and Eighteen: an institute to combat antisemitism and inspire Jewish pride.

Tishby has been a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher and appeared on networks such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox and PBS. She also spoke at the Capitol for a Congressional Hearing on online antisemitism in her capacity as Israel’s first Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism, and testified in front of the Committee on Ways and Means about the connection between campus antisemitism and terrorism financing, which was the catalyst for the catastrophic hearing of Harvard Penn and MIT presidents and the following resignation of Harvard’s Gay and Penn’s Magill. Tishby recently addressed members of Congress again in a hearing exposing gender-based violence of the October 7 massacre.

Tishby is the author of the New York Times bestseller “Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth” and is among the best known pro-Israel figures on social and legacy media, her content reaching millions of people daily across all platforms.

Tishby resides in Los Angeles and she is a proud Jewish mother to her son Ari.

Emmanuel Acho is a modern thought leader who challenges audiences to go beyond the status quo in order to bring forth long lasting and meaningful change. Acho is a Fox Sports Analyst, the Host of FS1’s SPEAK and Host/Producer of the Emmy Award-Winning Uncomfortable Conversations with Emmanuel Acho, a web series focused on driving an open, difficult, but ultimately productive conversation on race in America. Acho has received two Emmy Awards — Outstanding Sports Personality/Emerging On Air Talent and Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series for “Uncomfortable Conversations.”

In partnership with Oprah Winfrey, Acho released the “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man” book in 2020. It is the third title published as “An Oprah Book” and debuted at #3 on the New York Times bestsellers list. He also released “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Boy” in 2021 and “Illogical: Saying Yes to a Life Without Limits” in March 2022.

After earning his undergraduate degree in sports management in 2012, Emmanuel was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. He was then traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, where he spent most of his career. While in the NFL, Acho spent off-seasons at the University of Texas earning his master’s degree in Sports Psychology. In 2016, Acho left the football field and picked up the microphone to begin his broadcast career. In 2018, Emmanuel was promoted within ESPN, where he served as the youngest national football analyst and was named a 2018 Forbes “30 Under 30” Selection. In 2017, he and his family’s non-profit organization, Living Hope Christian Ministries, raised enough funds to build a hospital in rural Nigeria.
