Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia has an opening for a Social Responsibility Coordinator. The coordinator will assist with the work of the Commission for Social Responsibility and participate in service planning and programs while providing administrative support for the Social Responsibility Department.
Major position responsibilities include
Participate in planning discussions about the social service needs of the communities and the appropriate organizational and community response with Department staff.
Program research and program evaluation to help move the Department’s grants to be more outcome focused.
Help the director and associate director develop reports on topics such as aging in place, economic security, supports for individuals with a disability.
Conduct site visits to funded and non-funded programs.
Research best practices throughout the United States and Israel related to social service delivery.
Provide support to agencies in their use of Jewish Federation’s Integrated Data Warehouse, a cloud based database similar to electronic medical records. This will include training agency users, answering basic follow up questions and triaging other as questions as needed.
Maintain a calendar of grant proposal deadlines and reporting requirements.
Occasionally support/staff direct service programs of the Jewish Federation such Jewish Information and Referral Service, Mitzvah Food Program and Naturally Occurring Retirement Community.
Schedule meetings of the Commission for Social Responsibility, prepare meeting documentation and prepare minutes.
Compile and review spending spreadsheets.
Maintain and update databases.
Research and organize program funding and funding requests.
General research, correspondence, and proofreading.
Assist in the tracking of budgetary reports, and prepare reports as needed.
Coordinate office supplies and attendance for department.
Successful candidates for this position will possess these Qualifications & competencies
A bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, urban studies, community planning, etc. (an advance degree such as an MSW, MPH, MPA, is a plus.)
One to three years’ experience working in or utilizing the social service system.
Basic understanding of government social service programs and familiarity with the social service systems in Greater Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.
Experience working in the non-profit or healthcare sector preferred.
Understanding of logic models and theories of change.
Understanding of social determinants of health.
Ability to use MS Word, MS EXCEL and MS Access. Experience and comfort using Salesforce or other client database.
Familiarity with clinical and screening tools such as needs assessment.
Excellent phone demeanor.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with Jewish Federation colleagues, volunteers and outside vendors.
Very good organizational skills.
Demonstrated judgment and discretion in executing assignments.
Ability to lift 5 lbs. Work environment is an office setting and physical demands are primarily limited to operating general office equipment and on occasion program or meeting set up.
