Women's Philanthropy Mission to Berlin and Israel

March 12 – 19, 2020

Details

Join the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia for an unforgettable Jewish journey that mirrors our history.

Jewish life in Berlin today is thriving and diverse, though facing a rising tide of anti-Semitism that bears unsettling echoes of the past. In contrast, modern Israel is a place that doesn’t merely exist — itself a daily miracle — but has rapidly evolved from a pioneer state to a global research and development tech hub, driven by powerful female leadership. Witness the impact of our work in Israel and overseas, and meet inspiring women who have led Israel into the 21st century.

Berlin highlights

  • Tour the historic Jewish Quarter, the golden-domed Neue Synagogue, and celebrate Shabbat at the Rykestrasse Synagogue
  • Visit the deceptively glamorous House of the Wannsee Conference, where the Final Solution was planned
  • Stand on Gruenwald station’s Platform 17, from where Berlin’s Jews were deported
  • Enjoy dinner with members of Berlin’s Jewish community

Israel highlights

  • VIP meetings with Israeli dignitaries including Michael Oren, former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S.
  • Visit the Ayalon Institute, once a secret ammunition factory
  • Be inspired by serial entrepreneur Merav Oren, founder of Open Restaurants and WMN, a community for female tech founders
  • Explore places and greet faces new and old in the holy city of Jerusalem
