Material Instructions:

  • Download free hat pattern here.
  • You must use machine washable plain black worsted weight yarn. Black Superwash wool is the best, acrylic or a wool/acrylic mix.
  • The recommended length and size of the yarn is 220 yards and 200 m.
  • Use whatever needle you need to get gauge. The 4mm – 5.5 mm range is a good place to start. For circulars, use a small circumference, about 12” – 16”.
  • Wash and dry completed hats and place them in a Ziplock bag, include a 3 x 5 card with your personal information (name, mail address, telephone number, email address). You can also include a personal note to the soldier who will receive your hat.
  • Materials for the hats can be purchased at most local craft and yarn shops. Luv2Knit & More is offering a discount on tools and materials specified in the pattern for making hats for IDF soldiers.
