The Educators’ Engagement Fellowship is a two-year program that gives a select cohort of middle and high school educators the knowledge and understanding of Jewish history, antisemitism, Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Led by the Jewish Community Relations Council, the fellowship strives to enhance teaching practices and foster a supportive, professional network of educators who are committed to impactful Jewish education.

This immersive program includes experiential learning sessions, networking opportunities with organizations and thought leaders in the fields of Jewish education and community relations, and a transformative educational trip to Israel.

Program Goals

Participants will engage with complex, nuanced topics through interactive discussions, workshops, and experiential learning, enhancing their ability to approach sensitive subjects with analytical and balanced perspectives.

Educators will develop an understanding of diverse narratives and perspectives about Jewish history and the Middle East, gaining empathy, cultural awareness, and an appreciation for different experiences and viewpoints.

Participants will connect with fellow educators, scholars, and community leaders, facilitating the exchange of best practices and ideas, and inspiring collaborative initiatives that benefit their schools and communities.

Educators will be provided with innovative resources, methodologies, and strategies to effectively integrate the program’s content into their classrooms, making learning engaging, meaningful, and relevant for students.

Participants will use hands-on experiences, such as an educational trip to Israel, to deepen participants’ understanding of historical and contemporary issues, making the learning experience impactful and memorable.

Award certificates will be presented upon completion of the program to acknowledge participants’ commitment and expertise. Educators will develop a professional network of colleagues committed to impactful Jewish education.
