In celebration of Israel 75th anniversary, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia hosted A Taste of Israel Festival on Sunday, May 7 at the Saligman Campus, which featured five-time James Beard Foundation Award-Winning Chef Michael Solomonov and performances by a cappella group Six13. Over 2,000 people came out for the afternoon’s festivities, which included more than 40 Israeli and Jewish foods, including falafel, bourekas, shawarma, arayes, Moroccan cigars and more, and craft vendors.

Food vendors included A Taste of Israel by Michael Solomonov and Friends, The Chilly Banana, Roling’s Bakery, Deluxe Catering, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Soom Foods, Star of David, A La Karte Catering, Rita’s Water Ice, Jack & Jill Ice Cream, and more. All food prepared in the main demonstration tent was under the supervision of Keystone-K and certified as Glatt kosher. In addition, the Kashrut level of vendors outside the main tent were indicated.

Cultural activities included face painting, balloon artists, moon bounce and inflatable amusements, photo booths, and Gaga. 

A Taste of Israel Festival was the signature event of the Jewish Federation’s Israel 75 celebrations o honor the Jewish State’s founding, culture, and the beauty and diversity of the people who live there. Other events included a Community Mitzvah Day of more than 25-volunteer events on April 23 and a Shabbat Gathering with more than 80 opportunities to observe the day of rest on April 28 and April 29 throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
