Supports older adults (ages 60-plus) in their ability to remain living independently in their own homes in Northeast
Philadelphia (ZIP codes 19111, 19114, 19115, 19116, 19149 and 19152). Services include transportation for grocery shopping and medical appointments within a seven-mile radius; home maintenance support; socialization, information and referral. A newsletter of events and information benefiting older adults is mailed to members six times each year. The program is a joint effort of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and Catholic Health Care Services. Funding is also provided through foundations and private donations. The Pew Charitable Trust specifically funds social-work assessment for home-repair assistance through Northeast NORC and support for older adults who are care givers or new Americans.
