Northeast Philadelphia is a lively, multi-ethnic section of Philadelphia with a down-to-earth vibe and a 1600+ acre green space (Pennypack Park) embraced by its residents. It hosts a vibrant Jewish community with many synagogues and Chabad centers, mikvahs, kosher markets and restaurants, early learning centers, a premier Orthodox day school and a vibrant community center, the KleinLife JCC.
ABOUT NORTHEAST JEWISH LIFE
Approximately 10% of people in Jewish households in Greater Philadelphia live in the Northeast. While it has a higher proportion of older adults than Greater Philadelphia as a whole, there are also many young people and families. The Northeast contains a sizable number of Israel-Americans as well as families from the former Soviet Union. The Northeast is home to a NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community), subsidized Federation Housing for seniors, a satellite office of the Mitzvah Food Program and the distribution warehouse for the Jewish Relief Agency.
