Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia President and CEO Michael Balaban and Gail Norry, co-chair of the board of directors, will travel with a small delegation from Jewish Federations of North America to Poland near the Ukrainian border to meet refugees and humanitarian aid workers.

Balaban and Norry will fly from Newark, New Jersey, on March 20 and return to Philadelphia on March 23.

JFNA is working through the schedule and expects the group to take a bus to the border early on March 22, with programming taking place along the way. That night, the group will return to Warsaw and depart the following day.

Balaban and Norry will each take two large duffle bags filled with supplies for families forced to flee their homes.

“Forced to flee with only what they can carry, we will bring needed supplies, assistance, as well as a few toys for the children. What they are going through is unimaginable, and our role is to let them know that their cries for help are being heard,” Balaban said.

Jewish Federations across North America have distributed $25 million to Ukrainian relief efforts to date.
