For the entire month of October, store leadership at ACME’s South Philadelphia location (1001 South Street) has selected the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Mitzvah Food Program to receive a $1 donation from every purchase of the $3 ACME GIVE BACK WHERE IT COUNTS reusable bag.
The GIVE BACK Bag Program facilitates community support with the goal of making a difference in the vicinities where shoppers live and work. More than $150,000 has been donated to over 2,100 local nonprofits since the program launched in August 2019.
“The Mitzvah Food Program is thrilled to have been chosen as a recipient,” said Whitney Drukier, food pantry operations manager for the Mitzvah Food Program. “As we approach the fall season it is a joyful time for many around the region – filled with holidays and time with our families. But, for our community members who are struggling to put food on their plates, it can be a stressful time. That’s why local programs like this partnership with ACME Markets are essential for us to make sure that our food pantries can provide enough to our clients during the holidays, so all of our community members have a joyful holiday season.”
Since 1996, the Mitzvah Food Program has worked to reduce food insecurity and provide social services for at-risk families in the Greater Philadelphia region. The Mitzvah Food Project’s hunger relief program currently serves individuals through four pantry sites located in Northeast Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd, Bensalem and Elkins Park.
